AJAX TURN DOWN €90M UNITED BID
Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam have turned down a big bid from Premier League heavy weights Manchester United for one of their best players. Brazilian attacker Antony is undoubtedly one of the best players in the Ajax Amsterdam team after he played a major role in their league title triumph over the course of the past two seasons.
New manager Erik Ten Hag is desperate to add quality players to his squad especially after a poor start to his managerial career. He was helpless on the touchline as Manchester United were beaten in their first two league games. The Red Devils were beaten 2-1 at home by Brighton and Hove Albion through the first half goals from the in-form Pascal Gross. Gross scored twice in the first half to lead the Seagulls to a famous victory at the Theatre of Dreams.
The home loss at the hands of Brighton was followed by the big defeat at the home of West London side Brentford. It was a famous win for the Bees who thrashed Manchester United 4-0 with all the goals coming in the first half. The Bees scored their goals through Josh Da Silva, new signing Ben Mee, Bryan Mbeumo and Brian Jensen.
Ten Hag and his Manchester United players recovered from losing their first two league games with the 2-1 win at home to Liverpool earlier this week. On the transfer front, Manchester United were boosted by the signing of Brazil international Casemiro just before the Liverpool game.
